On June 25, 2026, Sunny Days celebrated the successful completion of the third annual Temple University and Sunny Days Early Childhood Developmental Services, Inc. Internship Program. This year’s intern from the Joyce K. Salzberg School of Professional Development at Temple University was Layla Sawyer.

Over the course of a six-week internship, Ms. Sawyer learned about the many therapeutic services that Sunny Days and the Sunny Days Sunshine Centers provide, including outpatient ABA services at the Sunny Days Sunshine Center in West Windsor, NJ under the guidance of Center Director Leianne Branco, BCBA.

During her time at the Sunshine Center, Ms. Sawyer assisted in preparing materials for daily instruction, and she observed and reflected upon the numerous services provided to the children and families attending the program.

Ms. Sawyer also had the opportunity to observe and reflect upon services provided by Sunny Days  in the New Jersey early intervention system. This included an initial assessment to determine eligibility and developmental intervention, speech and language therapy,  and occupational therapy sessions. She was asked to compare and contrast the numerous settings and approaches and consider the experiences from the perspective of the child, parent/caregiver, and therapist.

Additionally, she attended numerous trainings provided by Sunny Days to support her experiences and better understand the services that Sunny Days offers, and what it takes for an organization to provide services to the highest professional standards.

The internship culminated with a light luncheon at the Sunny Days Corporate Center in Manalapan, New Jersey, where Layla presented her findings and reflections to those at Sunny Days and the Joyce K. Salzberg School of Professional Development at Temple University who made this internship possible.
